Alpine Glade - Framed wall-hanging

Kitty Alcott, Contemporary Glass Artist

Beautiful color. Playful light.

Fused glass artist Kathryn (Kitty Alcott) lives in the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee. "Although my work is graphic in design, the color, motion, and repetitive patterns have their basis in the natural world." Some of the influences include flowers, rock formations and feathers. Art quilts are another form of inspiration.

A third generation artist, Kitty has been producing and showing her artwork since early childhood. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Florida and has taken postgraduate art courses at several of the finest art and craft schools in the nation.

"My glass work seems to have a spirit of joy expressed by the added dimension of light flowing through color. This inter-plays with the form and function of the piece. The processes involved in creating fused glass involve a very close relationship between making the form and designing the surface colors."

Kitty maintains a home studio and sells her work at art fairs and Turtle Hollow Gallery, 248 Buckhorn Road, Gatlinburg, TN. 865.436.6188.
