The Southern Highland Craft Guild has been recognized for seven decades as an industry leader in promoting the crafts of the Southern Highland region. Membership in the organization has always been regarded as an achievement in one's chosen craft. Its active juried membership of over 900 craftspeople come from a nine-state region that includes counties within the Appalachian mountain area of Kentucky, Tennessee, the Virginias, the Carolinas, Georgia, Maryland and Alabama. These craftspeople produce both traditional and contemporary objects. The Guild offers its members a world-class marketing opportunity.

| PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR JURIED MEMBERS: |
The Southern Highland Craft Guild operates five retail shops which exclusively represent Guild members' work. One of the most sought-after benefits of membership is the opportunity to sell through the retail shops, located among the region's most visited attractions in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Five miles east of Asheville, NC, on the Blue Ridge Parkway is Allanstand Craft Shop. Located in the Blue Ridge Parkway's Folk Art Center, Allanstand is America's oldest and best loved craft shop. Started in 1895 by Frances Goodrich, one of the founding members of the Guild, it is the most prominent retail space for Guild members' work. Parkway Craft Center is also located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the historic Moses Cone Mansion in Blowing Rock, NC. Opened in 1951, this magnificent residence provides a unique atmosphere for members' work. Guild Crafts, on Tunnel Road in east Asheville, adjacent to the famous Stuart Nye Jewelry workshop, offers a more intimate setting in the Asheville area. Arrowcraft, located on Main Street in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is adjacent to Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Operated since 1926 by the Pi Beta Phi fraternity, the Guild began operation of this historic property in 1994. The Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Visitor'S Center in Middlesboro, Kentucky, lies at the crossroads of Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia, and hosts the Guild's newest shop - Cumberland Crafts, which opened in 2002.
